The last weekend was a-w-e-s-o-m-e.
Why ?
Because I made it awesome.
And before you frown, let me explain.
I actually wanted to grow my blog empire – but even the most obsessive digital otaku has to take a dive or two into the realms of the offline world. So instead of sticking my eyes to the screen, I went out with REAL people (gosh!) and ended up on a Korean birthday party.
If you’re the first, you may…
ridicule yourself.
The Korean food was awesome (Kim-chee) the people were nice. An overall friendly atmosphere, but the party was lacking some electricity –the FIRE OF LIFE wasn’t there, and I thought I was one to bring it BACK.
Being a huge fan of Japanese animation, I started this comic-style posing – performing crazy hero gestures. Nobody understood what the fluk I was doing. It caused some people to frown, some others to smile, but I didn’t care, I was a on a mission – to bring back the fun and energy !
And after a while, slowly but steadily, the energy (and smiling) was returning to the scene, and everyone felt it.
After an hour, it turned into a real feast with loud singing and passionate conversations. People were having tremendous fun – ecstatic energy permeated our bodies – the party became a real party.
Was I the only one who made the spectacle possible ? Probably not. But I was definitely the one who helped the ball to roll.
- If nobody’s doing it, maybe…
YOU should be the first ! I swear to heaven, There are too many sheep on this planet, and I don’t blame New Zealand. It’s people staring at what other people do, not being conscious about what’s really happening. Successful digital crusaders ignore what they don’t like, because they’re busy with creating their own world. A maverick sees the status quo, and he doesn’t like it – there’s a better way of doing things, and if no one has the guts to ship it – HE WILL.
I know I was ridiculing myself on that party, but it felt right, and I knew was changing that part of the world for the better.
If you luv what you’re doing, if it gives you that “YEAH” factor, then DO IT, no matter how ridiculous it may look. It doesn’t matter if it’s a post, a service or some kick-ass product. Make it as original as possible (i.e. put your personal soul into it) and unleash it to the (digital) world !
Let your internal passion help you ignore the naysayers. Don’t worry about the criticism, you can take it.
And maybe, just maybe, your actions cause an inspiring ruckus, and inspire people to follow you:
Life’s soo unpredictable – that’s the marvel of it. If something is boring and bland, be it in the real or the digital life- then YOU should be the one who rocks the boat. Standing out is not achieved by trying too hard, but by doing something extremely fun (and maybe ridiculous) that blows people away and enriches their experience.
What do you think about this ?
XOXO for RETWEETING and sharing this message – plz spread the luv ;)
