The 4 Magic Traits that Summon your Online Influence

Personal brands digital crusaders

Hello my fellow Creative Crusaders !

Building an awesome brand is not only fun, it’s also an entire art form in itself. Thank heaven that we luv making art, right ?

I have checked many personal brands around the net – Creative Crusaders like you and me that conquer the their parts of the web. They couldn’t be anymore different, but on the deepest level – the place where we are all one – there are some striking similarities.

This is what I found

1. The will to power – Your eyes tell the future

personal-brand-mars-dorian

You need insane amounts of energy AKA passion, to fuel your personal crusade.

I have once met a guy who was on his personal mission, and boy, was he determined. He illuminated the room – his eyes were so focused I was waiting for the laser beams.

You might say: Heck, I know energy is vital. But summoning it is harder than you think. I can speak from experience: There are days, where I feel like a Superhero – ready to take the world by storm. And the next morning, the fire is gone.  What happened ?

Nature, my friend. NATURE. Like it or not, you have a biological rhythm. Your juices circulate, sometimes in mysterious ways. You must stir them every day, you must GAIN and KEEP momentum.

You do that by working everyday single day on your digital empire.

16 hours, 6 hours, 20 mins – it’s your choice. It only matters that you do it 7 times week to keep the flow.

If you don’t have the energy, at least be nice !

2. Fusion with your brand – it’s a marriage that holds a lifetime

fusion-brand

Some people honestly distance themselves from their brand !

And even worse; they treat it like a work. Yikes ! Don’t let this ever happen to you.

YOU MUST LUV YOUR BRAND MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE !

Luv your name/your logo/your page design/your mission. If there’s one thing – only ONE THING that you don’t like about your online presence, CHANGE it, immediately. Otherwise, you will slowly drown in the waters of hell:

Self-sabotage will slowly spread within you – 3 steps forward, 2 steps back.

Inner conflict is the worst, kill it at first sight: Be in unconditional love with your brand.

3. Provide an insane quality standard – unleash the magic !

mars-dorian-logo

Some trolls only chase the Benjamins; they provide mediocre quality and demand premium prices.

If you read this blog, I know you don’t belong to them.

So If you charge premium prices, create premium products in the first place.

Don’t settle for less – have a sick quality standard, and never deviate from it. Be your own worst critic.

If you screw up, be honest about it: Tell your customers, and promise to never let it happen again.

It’s not a privilege, it’s your responsibility.

4. Stability and Consistency – your guardian angels.

consistency

I know – the times are changing. Your logo may change, your strategies may change – but your CORE must always stay consistent.

What the heck is your core ? It’s your mission, it’s what you stand for.

What’s your mission ?

Every digital step you take must be flavored with your essence – be easy recognizable:

And plz, never betray yourself:

If you lead a minimalistic lifestyle, and build your brand around that, it’s not cool to post your latest 100,000 $ paycheck.

You know it will break you.

Reputation is very easy to lose, especially in the online world. Do a thousand incredible things, and then screw up once. It could be your game over.

Collateral damage is (almost) impossible to cover up in today’s age. Don’t get into that situation by being consistent right from the start.

If your brand dies, it’s because of your stupidity.

what the heck Everyone is different – it’s what makes the world shiny and interesting. But some core values are universal – the apply to everything and everyone. I live by these values everyday, and they are helping me spread my brand in awesome and inspiring ways.

What did I leave out ? What would you add ?

And please RETWEET and share the message !

    Hey Mars,

    Awesome post . .hmm it's an kick-ass post :D.
I love this point “You need insane amounts of energy AKA passion, to fuel your personal crusade.”
Passion is very important in blogging ;).
Another trait is writing style.. like Glen allsopp and Mars :D have.
Glen always writes long-depth awesome posts, while mars writes kick-ass – creative – posts.

Thanks for sharing this great post.

Hey Dev – the fire inside is what makes the difference. Without the energy, you can only be nice.

thanx for the compliment, I luv reading Glen's stuff too. Different style.

    Hi Mars,

You did a fine job covering the successful traits of an online entrepreneur.

As for having passion and keeping it glued to your being the best way to do this is to fall back on your vision continually. Use the imagination daily. I visualize every 60 minutes by dropping everything, taking a break and painting my mental picture in detail. When used properly the visualizing faculty is like nature's version of coffee. It provides an immediate boost and supplies you with endless hours of energy which fuels your passion.

As always sensational tips Mars. Thanks for sharing your passion….it's contagious!

    Ryan

      Hey Ryan,

I don't even drink coffee – I have all the caffeine already inside. And you visualize 60 minutes daily ? Woa boy, and I thought I was crazy. thats awesome. I do a couple mins every morning, while listening to some kick-ass pop music. Gets me ready for the day !

I lllllike it! Especially: “16 hours, 6 hours, 20 mins – it’s your choice. It only matters that you do it 7 times week to keep the flow.” Because the flow, the momentum, is what will get 'it' done in the end.

Going back to something you've been neglecting, whether it's a relationship, a project, or a goldfish, is a scary prospect. You feel guilty about the wasted opportunities and the whole thing gets surrounded with negative energy and fear of what you might find on return. Will your lines of communication have closed down? Will all of your good ideas have rotted away? Will you have to wrap a little fishy-corpse in tissue and flush him down the toilet? Yes, a daily check-in is the way to go!

    • http://www.marsdorian.com/ Mars Dorian

      giddayTammy,

I don't even want to go back – everything that's essential to me will be kept in flow, as long as I want to. Being present is the best thing I can do – the past is already an illusion, and that's how I treat it.

The endless energy we can summon during this moment is all we need – it's where the true fun lies.

Okay, so Mars, great post… but nothing, including passion, will make my eyes bug out like the girl in #1. Just sayin' ;)

    • http://www.marsdorian.com/ Mars Dorian

You right – I have used that pic in endless varieties. She's that intensive.

  • http://PhantasmagoricRadio.wordpress.com Tim

It doesn't hurt to fail big at consistency in the beginning if you find your real core because of it.

Your fans are forgiving people, and often times we all need reminders of it.

    • http://www.marsdorian.com/ Mars Dorian

you are right – in the beginning you still have to find your place. But the consistency is more important with your soul intention – you know – doing a complete 180 with your overall message. From minimalist to greedy millionaire – breaks the positive effect you set out in the beginning.

Another thought-provoking post behind the crazy-energy here, Mars.

Love this part; “Don’t settle for less – have a sick quality standard, and never deviate from it. Be your own worst critic.” and this part: “If your brand dies, it’s because of your stupidity.” –> very true!

    • http://www.marsdorian.com/ Mars Dorian

      Thanks Karen.

Yep, it's the true essence of what I believe.

  • http://www.financiallydigital.com Nunzio Bruno

I don't know if you left anything out because those points were pretty spot on. I can't agree with you enough that having pride in your brand and keeping it clost to the chest is so crucial. I've seen collegues of mine attempt what I am only to watch them self-sabatoge right off the face of the earth. Heck I'm even coaching two businesses right now and in both cases creating and identifying with their passions was the first thing we talked about. I know everyone has ups and downs but building a digital empire is lots of little steps and victories..I mean we all cant wake up and be a Mars Dorian :p (I mean I only wish :) )

    • http://www.marsdorian.com/ Mars Dorian

      Heya Nunzio,

yep – everyday a little step and a clear focus on your passion is the heart of your campaign. I found out that focus and momentum is SUper-important. Hey, don't ever wish to be somebody else – make the vision of YOU a reality !!!

And a complete unwillingness to fail! Don't forget that! If you absolutely refuse to believe you can fail, you can't! We create our own reality and absolute commitment to making something work fuels a massive fire!

Hehe i drink coffee, LOTS of it :P Quality is important but getting people to know that you exist is even more important than that. Do the latter and keep them coming by offering good quality. I think this is where quality really matters.

Nice work, I'm a first time reader. I've seemed to have lost my focus because I have 2 jobs and a new baby coming, so blogging is not a priority. But with my real job ending in August, it might be time to find some passion… and fast! I'll check ya out!

    • http://www.marsdorian.com/ Mars Dorian

jeez, sounds like lots of work. I think you have enough passion inside you to melt the North Pole, you just have to listen within. I know it, because that's with every human being on earth.
