Before Your Light Vanishes…

personal branding marketing ray of lights

This weekend was quite a revelation.

Some things were happening that I didn’t expect, (as usual) and it brought me down a bit.

I  listened to a couple Anthony Robbins talks for some uplifting, because I luv his motivation.

One session was extremely interesting – he talked about a good friend who wanted to a make a difference in the world and suddenly got “attacked” by a vicious cancer. Anthony brought him to his house, took good care of him over a period of several months and got him back to remarkable health – the joy of life was returning. Everyone was happy, and they went to the doctor for a last examination.

Despite the visible recovering, the cancer was stronger than ever, and finally invaded a critical part of the brain. Within the next days, Anthony’s friend lost his ability to speak, and was seeing things that weren’t there. The following day, he died.

That made me really, really think…

Who knows what will happen ? Today you’re a passionate crusader with a juicy lust for life  – and tomorrow, your light is gone for good.

It can happen – soooooo fast.

Buckle up.

Buddhists say you have all the time in the world –yeah, if you have a couple of after-lifes to spare, I’d say the same. But this life is precious to me – and I want to push it to the liiiiiimiiiits.

Expand your Perception

One year ago, I used to live a semi-bland life, and I DID NOT like it, not an itzy-bittsy tiny bit. But laziness devoured my soul, and I thought there was no way out.

WRONG !

I screamed: To hell with it, my life sucks !

It was time for a lasting change.

And I off I went – going ballistic with my ideas.

My mindset ?

Challenging myself and the world around me – day after day. Accepting my comfort zones and expanding them by doing a tiny thing every day that scares me and (almost) causes me to shit in my pants. It’s fun, scary and best of all – it’s a viiiiiiiiiiiiibrant life – feeling those exciting shocks of adrenaline rushing through my body !

I-THINk

How I behave:

  • Be confident as Superman (It’s all perception), while admitting my mistakes like a 6 year old child
  • Laugh extremely (get’s me funny looks) at my own and other jokes. And even more glorious – I nowadays even laugh when things don’t go my way – needless to say, I’m laughing A LOT ;)
  • Be a passionate orb of fire ( because it’s inspiring AND fun) and show that energy with my words and gestures

What I do:

  • Network with anyone I want to, no matter how high the league
  • Answer every message that needs to be answered
  • do at least one thing that feels scary and makes me look stupid – it will be a daily thing in the future – so why not get used to it, now ??

Aim for a DENT in the UNIVERSE !

My goals are grand, not because I’m delusional (well, a little), but because I’m curious like a cat – I want to see what’s possible  – and that’s why I’m building a kick-ass creative multimedia brand-marketing platform around this blog (whoooo, what a mouthful). Diligent work, voracious appetite and a glowing stream of eternal passion are my guardian angels that bring me forward.

If you’re anything like me – you probably have your own grand obsession. Big ideas and a hunger to take the world by storm. I know it’s easy and cheesy to say – that’s why you must back up your ideas with MASSIVE action. You don’t do the world a favor by playing it small – it’s time to get delusional, buckle up.

Wild riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide.

Ba-bup-Ba-bup-Ba-bup-Ba-bup-Ba-bup-Ba-bup-Ba-bup-Ba-bup-

Can you hear it ? Those are your heart beats. Every Ba-Bup brings you closer to the void – there’s no escaping !

No time to waste. Better rock now before the Grim Reaper comes knockin’ on your door !

Make this your most epic month EVER – pretend there’s a gun pointed to the back of your head – the trigger can be pulled any moment !

Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam !

before your light

And what will you leave behind ? A mediocre life that hasn’t been lived to the fullest ?

It doesn’t have to be sooo terrible ! I       t join me, to make a creative ruckus, to bite wayyyyyyyy more than we can chew !

We’ll make an epic painting – let’s call it:

“ Before I fall into the void,

I leave a trace of light that illuminates the world “

    Hi Mars,
sorry to hear about your bereavement, but you are right on the money when you say live your life now before it's too late.

Do something extraordinary with your life, worry about the consequences later!

“Do something extraordinary with your life, worry about the consequences later!”

Mars, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Nothing really prepares us for that, does it? I'm spending today with my folks at doctor's appointments, which is always a strong reminder to me to seize the day! Here's to living full throttle.

    • http://www.marsdorian.com/ Mars Dorian

      Yeah, seize the day, Jean.

I make sure I remember that every single day.

When describing this post only one thing comes to mind…inspirational!

You truly never know how much more life you have left to live. You don’t want to live a life with regrets. So living it to the fullest is the only alternative.

I know that I am leaving my mark on the world while I am in it. Which makes for an incredible life!

      David,

awesome mindset – if you have that much passion you surely will leave your own mark – make it an epic one ;)

Hi Mars. It is a good message coming from Tony's Book. You never know what day will be your last. Live it to the max.

This blog made me sad. lol Maybe I should go buy a burial plot. :) JK

Is that Mary Poppins in the pic?

    • http://www.marsdorian.com/ Mars Dorian

Sad – this post is supposed to be uplifting and inspiring !

      And Mary Poppins ?
      Noooooooo waaaaaaayy !
It's an inspiring human like being from a destroyed planet -you know who ;)

Yes Mars, you *get it*. Our lights are going out much more quickly than we think. Life is like a sprint when compared to eternity. Make it count.

My girlfriend's father passed on a few years back. My cousin passed on at 26 last summer suddenly. These events woke me up considerably. Our arrival and departure from this world occurs in a moment. Do whatever you want to do in order to make it count.

    • http://www.marsdorian.com/ Mars Dorian

Sorry to hear that, Ryan – but it shows that death is all around us – lurking in the shadows just waiting to sneak upon you. The last year was a blessing – I squeezed every bit out of my life – and I keep doing so.

      Let's do it together ;)

  • http://www.mikestenger.com Mike Stenger

You've got a great point Mars because things can end at any moment. I think a lot of people let their current situation get to them so much that it's hard for them to think outside of it and in a more positive manner.

That also translates to them not doing the things that they truly want to and living a happy life.

    • http://www.marsdorian.com/ Mars Dorian

Yeah Mike – most people (me included in the past) stay in their daily rut – only when misery attacks they tend to wake up – at least for a while. It's not going to happen to me – I'm going to live every single day to the extreme !

  • http://www.newmediasideshow.com Marek

As usual your best post ever Mars! I say as usual because you're rocketing upward so fast that ever post you write is your best ever!

Live an EPIC life and even if you die without accomplishing all your goals, at least you'll have LIVED. Even if people fail 100% at everything, do they think they'll feel better if they never try anything at all? Better to try and fail then to die having sat on your ass for a lifetime!

It's like 50 Cent said, “get rich or die trying” :)

    • http://www.marsdorian.com/ Mars Dorian

Hey Marek, thanks for all the praise,

We'll see how I'm going to trump that. Yeah, fail like a maverick – just keep on moving towards your direction – the incredible journey is the awesome thing here.

Dent in the Universe….Living a life with meaning. I completely agree Mars. You know, I honestly think that is one of my greatest driving forces in life it not live an ordinary life.
    It needs to be ExtraOrdinary.

      Hey Brandon,

      nice to see you here
And yeah, and that's also where all the fun is !!

  • http://www.stevescottsite.com/ Steve Scott Site

I'm a huge advocate of planning things and keeping track of goals, but it's so important to do as much as we can every single day. We never know when we will run out of tomorrows.

    • http://www.marsdorian.com/ Mars Dorian

      Hey Steve,
I'm only planning extremely short-term and very basically long-term (the direction I want to go!).
my main goals are making my days as epic as possible ;)

  • http://www.delphicinsight.com Kim Ramsay

Awesome stuff Mars! Sooo on my wavelength with this post. I'm always trying to step up in this life – play it big – embrace the random – dance like a looney – create create create – to shine as brilliantly and as brightly as I possibly can – to spend my days running to catch up with my racing ambition – and of course absolutely shit myself in the process :)
Life's too short to play it small. Next thing I know, I'll be stardust again… so now's the only time I have to shine.
    You rock!

    • http://www.marsdorian.com/ Mars Dorian

      Haha, thanx Kim,

it's my soul typing these words here. And just like you, I want to play a much bigger game. It's possible, and it's fun, you just need courage and take massive action.

“Next thing I know, I'll be stardust again… ” beautiful expression, I might use that in my next post ;)

Stuck to the side of my Powermac i have a hot pink post-it note with the words “Today, Show me Your Soul.” Always trying to infuse it into all that I do – and always hoping to see it in the eyes of those I connect with every day :)

        Shine On!
