Remember this one ?
You may not like it, but you know what it stands for.
Even if Alzheimer infests your brain, it will never erase those golden arches from your memory.
You know what a logo is.
It’s your desired brand meaning manifested in the form of a symbol.
Logos are powerful beings; they don’t die with their creator (think Walt Disney) and can even invade the farthest places (the coca cola sign in a back alley of Kathmandu).
If you want to expand the influence of your business, any kind of business, you have to get your own logo. It can spread throughout human consciousness; eventually leaving a trace in our brains that will last for eternity, or at least a lifetime.
- Brand recognition value. Stay consistent with your message and design. Brand every digital step you make. A logo helps tremendously.
- Raises your perceived image. A logo makes you feel like real, pro business. Not corporate style (we want to avoid that) but personal brand YOU style.
- Great promotion. If you establish yourself as an authority, a logo can help you spread your word. Every time someone promotes your stuff with your logo , the world knows where it’s coming from. It also makes it easy for people to remember it, and we all want that. A logo is worth a thousand words ;)
Here are three quick tips that will boost your logo creation:
- Make it simple but effective. Use 2 colors, 3 at max. Use your initials and/or a photo of yourself. Use a symbol.
- Think about the message you want your logo to represent. If you can’t do it yourself, hire someone who can. It’s essential.
- Love it more than yourself. If you don’t feel the butterflies jamming in your stomach when you see your logo, how will you find the energy to promote it throughout the web ?
- Use it everywhere you can. Whenever you bring your brand into play, let your logo join the game. Put it into your blog banner, let it shine on your business card or iron it on your mum’s favorite blouse and let her walk through your target audience. Whatever creative way you come up with, make sure your logo spreads faster than the swine flu.
Today you are the only one who knows your logo;
tomorrow your friend may call you and tell you how nifty it looks, and by the day after tomorrow it will have taken the world by storm.
Create your own logo and set it loose.
The world is yours for the taking.
Over and out,
Mars Dorian
